Some Great Examples of Team Mission Statements
Good team mission statements are invaluable to your organization. Besides learning how to create a mission statement with your team, you must be able to ensure the quality of your mission statement. Examples of Team Mission Statements
This one is the mission statement of Coke: • To refresh the world in body, mind and spirit. • To inspire moments of optimism through our brands and our actions. • To create value and make a difference everywhere we engage. Here’s the mission statement of Apple Computers, the famous iPod maker: Apple is committed to bringing the best personal computing experience to students, educators, creative professionals and consumers around the world through its innovative hardware, software and Internet offerings. One more example, my church City Harvest: To build a church with a strong spiritual atmosphere of faith and purity, where every member is released into ministry, discipled in the Great Commandment to obey the Great Commission. Notice that mission statement always consist of these elements: • Their value proposition - What is the value they are adding? • Their target market - Who are the people they are targeting. • Their channels/methods - How do they intend to go about achieving that value proposition to the target market. Similarly it’ll be good that your team mission statement includes these elements as well. A well written statement is concise and easily understood by the lay person. Don’t write a really long statement trying to encompass everything you’re doing in the organization that it takes someone 5 minutes to finish reading, and another 5 to understand! Make it a concise statement that any lay person will be able to grasp the full meaning of it. Like Ben & Jerry’s: Our aim is to make the best possible ice cream, in the nicest possible way. Simple and to the point! Your team will understand it with great clarity and with that, you can expect them to move with you in the same direction toward your goals.
