Articulating your vision is vital in leadership. A vision enables your team to resonate with you. Having a vision in your heart is just simply not enough. Many people have visions that they keep inside them; but it takes courage to actually share the vision and set your heart to achieving it, because there’s always the chance of failure. But it is only when you take this risk to share the vision with your team that you will find support and commitment that cannot be found otherwise. Research has shown that a vision can even draw more commitment from people than what charisma alone can do! That’s right. You don’t have to be good-looking, eloquent and all that to be an effective leader. But back to the question, how can you articulate your vision so clearly that your team will be compelled to commit their time and lives to your cause? I have some suggestions: Three Points on Sharing A VisionKeep it simple • What is exactly the future you intend to create? You’ll find this method to be much more effective in getting the message across to your team. Keep the sharing regular During, and especially during the hard days where everyone’s going through a tough time, it is really important for you to come out and once again remind them of what they’re fighting or working for.
