Quotes about Leadership: Mahatma Gandhi was a famous leader of the Indian people. His fights against the British’s discrimination have had him gone down in history as one of the world’s greatest leaders.
One of the quotes he made was:
If I have the belief that I can do it, I will surely acquire the capacity to do it, even if I may not have it at the beginning.
It’s really another way of saying, when there’s a will, there’s a way.
When I am choosing my team, I would tell them this, especially when they doubt if they can live up to expectations in fulfilling their roles. I would tell them that:
‘Your ability is secondary; it’s your heart that matters the most.’
This means that you must be ready to invest in the people that you are leading, help to groom them into individuals with the essential skills ready for the job required of them.
But I believe as a leader, it is only create an environment like that: where people of belief and motivate are esteemed higher than people of ability.
The world is filled with people with ability, but lack the heart to do anything great in their lives. As someone said before, undiscovered geniuses are almost commonplace nowadays.
I hold fast to what Gandhi has said, when you believe first, in time you come you will become the man you have to be to fulfil the vision of yours.
It’s not the man that makes the vision; it’s the vision that makes the man.
Once you have the vision and believe with your heart that you can achieve it, your journey to that vision will bring with it lessons and experiences that will mould you into the man that you need to be!
