A Leadership Minute: Steve Jobs; Leaving a Legacy
If you’re like me, you’re probably deeply saddened by the recent passing of Steve Jobs. Although you probably never met the man, but his work has probably impacted your life in one way or another.
During the day of his passing, it was pretty interesting to note that most people found out his death through their iPhones and iPads, devices that he himself created through his company Apple Inc.
To me, that is really one of the greatest reminders of how great a legacy that Steve Jobs has left behind. You may or may not like the man because of his sometimes aggressive leadership style, yet your life was definitely in some way impacted by his work.
When I was doing an article on Steve Jobs, I remember one of his visions was to put a PC in every single household. Wow. I think he’s already done better than that by putting the iPhone in our hands.
How would you like your life to be like his? A life full of passion for creation and design, not for money nor for wealth (by 25 he was worth $100 million), a life of excellence and forcing others to follow suit?
The thing about his excellence in his work is that, you’d realize, that he’s caused the whole industry to move forward. Because of the pressures of competition, the industry has to keep progressing in order to keep up with Apple products.
As a result, we the end consumer benefit from the great value-added from the industry.
Talk about leaving a legacy. Imagine your work and creations pressures everyone around you to improve and innovate in order to catch up. As result, everyone delivers better value to their clients; wouldn’t that make the world a better place for all to live?
If you’re a leader, strive to become like Steve Jobs. Be excellent in all that you do, so that people have to live accordingly to your standards. That way, you’re indirectly making the world a better place.
To your success,
Yihan

Recommended Books and Resources
I read the book Presentation Secrets of Steve Jobs some time back, and I think it’s an amazing book about using the principles of Steve Job’s presentation style to captivate and persuade your audience.
I’ve applied some of the techniques mentioned in this book and I think it’s really effective in delivering your message powerfully across.
Do read through each chapter and think about how you can apply them to your presentations. You may or may not use slides in your presentations; but the principles behind each technique will be invaluable.
